Salary Schedule: Building Level Support Salary Schedule: SLPA (range $30.67 – $36.54 based on the 25/26 salary schedules & related experience)

Summary of Position:

This position will assist with delivery of treatment plans provided by a Speech Language Pathologist who serves students with speech language impairments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Responsible for providing speech language therapy services to students according to their Individual Education Program (IEP) goals as developed by the supervising Speech Language Pathologist (SLP).
  • Assist the SLP, teachers and other related service personnel in implementation of individual programs to achieve educational goals as outlined in student’s IEPs.
  • Monitor and document student progress toward meeting IEP goals and benchmarks.
  • Report and record progress information on each student and share in consultation with supervising SLP, teachers and the Special Education Coordinator as requested.
  • Maintain and prepare a wide variety of manual and electronic materials to align with student targeted goals and activities.
  • Assist the SLP with informal documentation for students.
  • Assist in the preparation of lesson plans and instructional materials as requested by the supervising SLP. Assist in the monitoring and maintenance of all therapy equipment and supplies used within the speech therapy department.
  • Assist in implementing new communication devices and processes as directed by the supervising SLP.
  • Participate in training activities and assist with speech-language screenings as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.

  • Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment, such as telephones, copier, fax machine, E-mail, etc

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Communication, Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders, or Speech Sciences from an accredited institution of higher education required
  • Completion of speech-language pathology assistant program (SLPA) required. Will consider candidates who are entered into a program.
  • CDE State Certification for SLPA required. Will consider candidates working toward certification.
  • Two to three years of direct, hands-on experience working with students with speech language impairments.
  • Valid CO driver’s license.

  • Persons performing service in this position classification will exert 5 to 30 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • This type of work involves a stationary position most of the time but may involve moving for brief periods.
  • Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate business related equipment, and handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.
  • Ability to travel to local schools as needed.
