Abi Matthews graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Colorado with a degree in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences in 2023 and is continuing her education at CU Boulder. She was introduced to the field of Speech-Language Pathology while working in the Intensive Care Unit during the COVID-19 pandemic. Abi has presented her research on communication disorders related to Sanfilippo Syndrome at the 2022 Colorado Speech-Language and Hearing Association convention (in Parker, CO) and 2023 American Speech-Language and Hearing Association convention (in New Orleans, LA) and continues to study this disease as part of her master’s thesis. In her free time, Abi likes to read a cozy book with her 14-year-old tabby named Thursday.

Josh Rice is a first-year graduate student in the inaugural MSSLP program at Metropolitan State University of Denver. Josh received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and Secondary Education from MSU Denver in 2017 and started his career as a middle school teacher. He is excited to be a part of the SLP community and looks forward to working in the field. In his free time, Josh enjoys skiing, traveling, and playing with his dog.

Aspen Gupton is a first year graduate student in the department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Northern Colorado. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Speech, Language, and Hearing Science from the University of Colorado Boulder in the spring of 2022. Aspen is from Broomfield, Colorado originally and loves being surrounded by the mountains! She has a passion for Autism Spectrum Disorders and supporting young children with communication differences. In her free time, Aspen enjoys yoga, traveling, volunteering, and spending time with her friends and family.

Michaela Croteau is a first-year student in the MA-SLP program at the University of Northern Colorado. She comes to the field from a non-traditional background, having worked in education for seven years and receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Northern Colorado. When she’s not studying, Michaela enjoys hiking, skiing and paddleboarding. She is excited to be a part of the speech language pathology community and advocate for speech, language and hearing services for all of those in need as a CSHA student representative.
