The Elizabeth G. Jancosek Graduate Student Scholarship is awarded to currently-enrolled graduate students at the University of Colorado, the University of Northern Colorado, and Metropolitan State University of Denver. Students apply annually in the spring, and the board selects one student from each university to receive a $1000 scholarship. Applicants submit an essay, unofficial transcripts, a resume, and a letter of recommendation.
This scholarship honors Elizabeth G. Jancosek, Ph.D., Professor Emerita of Speech and Hearing Science, who mentored and taught students at the University of Colorado and University of Northern Colorado. She is fondly remembered for her unwavering commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion of all students. She recruited and mentored culturally and linguistically diverse students, knowing their importance in serving underrepresented and minoritized children and adults with communication challenges and their families. She was known for excellence in teaching, kindness, fairness, and caring for fellow faculty and students.
The CSHF scholarship program recognizes Dr. Jancosek’s endless contributions at the state and national level, her care and concern for each student who knocked on her door, her shared wisdom and laughter, and her “modeling the way” for future professionals through commitment to research, scholarship and engagement in our field.
