The Elizabeth G. Jancosek Graduate Student Scholarship is awarded to currently-enrolled graduate students at the University of Colorado, the University of Northern Colorado, and Metropolitan State University of Denver. Students apply annually in the spring, and one recipient from each university is selected by the board.
Eligible students receive access to the online application in early March. The application deadline is April 30 at 11:59 PM. Applicants are required to submit an essay, unofficial transcripts, a résumé, and a letter of recommendation. Scholarships are awarded in early June.
This scholarship honors Elizabeth G. Jancosek, Ph.D., Professor Emerita of Speech and Hearing Science, who mentored and taught students at the University of Colorado and University of Northern Colorado. She is fondly remembered for her unwavering commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Dr. Jancosek actively recruited and mentored culturally and linguistically diverse students, recognizing their vital role in serving underrepresented and minoritized children and adults with communication challenges, as well as their families. She was known for excellence in teaching, kindness, fairness, and genuine care for her colleagues and students.
The CSHF scholarship program recognizes Dr. Jancosek’s contributions at the state and national levels, her care and concern for each student who sought her guidance, her shared wisdom and laughter, and her “modeling the way” for future professionals through her commitment to research, scholarship and engagement in the field.
