Join ASHA and state Medicaid advocates to learn what’s happening with Medicaid and the challenges ahead. Case studies will be presented by volunteers from Colorado, Idaho, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, detailing advocacy efforts that showcase the power of partnering in advocacy.
This event will be recorded and will be available for later viewing. 1.0 PDH will be available for attending the live event only. Participants must track and use PDHs for certification maintenance. A Certificate of Attendance will be provided to those who attend the full live presentation. Please join the presentation on your computer to be able to download the handouts and certificate of attendance. If you require accommodations to participate in this Zoom session, please notify reimbursement@asha.org by April 7, 2026.

We’re proud to introduce one of our CSHA board members, Linda Falk, MS, CCC-SLP.

Linda has been a speech-language pathologist for over 30 years and currently serves patients across the lifespan in a critical access hospital in northeastern Colorado. From pediatrics to geriatrics, her work reflects a deep commitment to meeting the needs of rural communities.

After moving to northeastern Colorado just over two years ago, Linda was motivated to stay connected to the field and increase awareness of the gaps in rural healthcare services.

Her experience spans owning a pediatric private practice to working in neuro-rehabilitation at Craig Hospital.

This year, Linda will serve as Treasurer for the CSHA Board, and we are grateful for her leadership and dedication.

Meet Kelsey Sipka, MS, CCC-SLP, our new VP of Membership!
Kelsey is a pediatric AAC specialist from Grand Rapids, Michigan who made her way to Denver, Colorado after earning her degrees from Central Michigan University and Bowling Green State University. She currently works at The Learning Zone at Real Life Colorado, an immersive AAC academic program serving kids from early intervention through adolescence.
When asked why she joined the CSHA board, Kelsey said it best, “I joined CSHA to collaborate with an inspiring group of individuals committed to advancing and advocating for our field in Colorado.”
We are so grateful to have her passion, expertise, and heart on our team. Welcome, Kelsey!

CSHA Colorado State Convention 2026 Call for Paper

CSHA Colorado State Convention 2026 Call for Papers is now open. We are looking for engaging presentations that support and inspire speech language pathologists, assistants, and students across Colorado. The convention will take place October 2 and 3 at the Adams 12 Conference Center. If you have research, clinical strategies, innovative programs, or practical ideas to share, we encourage you to submit a proposal. The deadline to submit presentation proposals is April 4, and poster submissions will be accepted through August. Help us build a strong program by sharing your expertise with the Colorado speech and hearing community. Link in bio to submit your proposal.

Meet William Thomson, M.A., CCC-SLP, our 2026 CSHA

Meet William Thomson, M.A., CCC-SLP, our 2026 CSHA President Elect and VP of Education.

Will is a practicing Pediatric Home Health Speech-Language Pathologist at Front Range Pediatric Therapies with experience spanning schools, ICU, inpatient and outpatient hospitals, pediatric outpatient, and home health. His clinical passions include Childhood Apraxia of Speech, fluency, AAC, social language disorders, and speech sound disorders.

He joined the CSHA Board to connect those who dare to learn, empower those who advocate boldly, and elevate excellence in those confronting inequity. During his term, Will hopes to strengthen relationships with Colorado SLPs and Audiologists, graduate students, state associations, and community partners while expanding educational opportunities for health professionals across the state.

Outside of work, you might find him racing cars, hiking, climbing, camping, playing board games, traveling, or exploring new cuisines.

Welcome, Will. We are excited for your leadership.

With experience spanning from acute care in Boston to private practice and mobile FEES, Jessi brings deep clinical expertise and a passion for infant/breastfeeding, pediatric feeding, and adult neurological disorders.

She believes in treating the whole patient, and when a full team stands behind a family, magical things happen.

Jessi served as CSHA President in 2025 and now continues her leadership journey as Past President, committed to growth, advocacy, and empowering SLPs across Colorado.

Meet the 2026 CSHA Board President

We are thrilled to introduce Jill Hawks, MS, CCC-SLP as the 2026 President of the Colorado Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

Jill is the owner of Alpine Speech Therapy, a pediatric private practice serving families across the Denver metro area through in-home, community-based, and teletherapy services. Born and raised in rural Colorado, Jill brings a deep appreciation for the diverse needs of clinicians and families across our state, from mountain towns and the Front Range to the eastern plains.

With experience in early intervention, developmental preschool, public schools, private practice, teletherapy, and rural contracting, Jill brings a uniquely broad and thoughtful perspective to this role. She previously served as CSHA’s State Advocate for Reimbursement (STAR) in 2024, President-Elect in 2025, and now steps into leadership as CSHA President for 2026.

Jill is passionate about building strong connections, advocating for high-quality services, and fostering a unified, effective network of representation across Colorado.

We had the honor of partnering with CU Boulder to host the first SLP job fair for graduate students in the state of Colorado, and it was truly incredible to witness the energy, collaboration, and support in the room.

We are deeply thankful for our community partners who showed up to invest in the next generation of SLPs. Representatives from 7 different practice settings shared real-world insight, interview tips, and even provided on-the-spot resume reviews for students. Opportunities like this make a lasting impact.

It was especially exciting to see graduate students attend from UNC, MSU Denver, and CU Boulder, all coming together to explore career paths and connect with future employers.
